Chapter 1- New Website and 4 New Emails

There have been several updates to Find815.com.
It appears Sam has been doing some work on his laptop. There are 4 new emails and 1 new website. They are as follows:

  • A new informational website for the Sunda Trench, which appears to be similar to the ones we have posted. It makes particular note of volcanic activity in the region. [Note: This is not a real website and cannot be accessed outside of find815.com. A sign of things to come? - Fenris]
  • Email 1 - Sam sent an email to David Massingham asking for tickets on a booked flight.
  • Email 2 - David responded giving Sam tickets from
8:50 Sydney - 11:45 Darwin FLT 511

14:14 Darwin - 15:15 Jakarta FLT 601
  • Email 3 - Sam sent an email to Tracey R. inquiring about a BOAT named Christiane 1 (interesting!)
  • Email 4 - Tracey says Christiane 1 is a salvage vessel leaving from Jakarta in "a few days". Apparently she has no idea where it is headed.

UPDATE: At some point, I have been informed, there were actual email addresses on the computer in Sam's inbox. They are listed HERE. For some reason, they no longer seem to be in the inbox. (If someone knows differently, please send an email.) There is one in particular that folks have sent an email to and received a response from. (including myself)
The address is zkillen_t99@hotmail.com. The response I received was......

Since the dawn of our species, man's been blessed with curiosity.
Your curiosity will be rewarded.

Namaste

Zeke Klotho Freundlich=

UPDATE (6:53 AM 1/2/07): It seems Sam has a gotten himself a Facebook.
  • You need to have a Facebook account and be logged in to see the link properly. Looks like some familiar faces in his friends.
  • Also StationZer0 was reporting a Flickr page that was taken down, but the image that remains is quite interesting, directing us to find815.com. [UPDATE: This has also been removed now-Fenris]
UPDATE (1PM GMT): The Oceanic phone number (818) 460-5520 has changed somewhat and no longer asks you to leave your name. Instead you eventually get an option to access voice mail, however currently no account/password combination seems to work. It is also worth noting that according to the message on the Maxwell Group website (assuming a D/M/Y format) their web mail should be up and running again. However this doesn't yet seem the case (which could mean it is a US style M/D/Y format instead and we will have to wait until next month).

Shout out to Molly for the hotmail information. Thanks Kinetic for the facebook and flickr!

DON'T FORGET to e-mail us if you have something to add to the main post: OceanicConspiracies@gmail.com!

From previous post:
Yeah, Mav, I am forming the opinion that the island is somewhere in the Indian Ocean...
And remember...the pilot told Kate that they were over 1,000 miles off course....

Oh...btw...

Anyone else think Sam will try to "stow away" on the Christiane 1?

Shell, you are a genius, I tell ya!

BTW. Lost Ninja's name IRL is Tom! Not Matt!!!!

Okay so we need to get serious here. All this stuff is being put out there for us. Should we start looking into these locations (Sunda Trench, Jakarta)?

I kinda feel like maybe we're just supposed to sit here and watch this all happen, like Kin and Fenris mentioned before.

Good job with the post Jess!

I'll go fix the link now Kin.

maven said...

What does the Christiane I salvage? Name also reminds me of Christian Shepherd!

maven said...

That's the feeling I'm getting, too, Ange. Just sit back and watch the story unfold. I don't think we're supposed to "solve" anything, are we?

maven said...

Has anyone been able to get on findinfoout.com?

jess4ua said...

I sure hope that we aren't going to just watch this unfold! I am going to be hopeful and say that maybe Chapter 1 is "setting the scene" for us. ;)

shellma said...

Well, with the billboard thing...I think it will be interactive.

maven said...

The billboard thing is cool. But so far on Find815 everything has been pretty straight forward...which is okay for my humble brain. LOL

Kinetic said...

I think we will still need the collective detective at some point. Remember the first TLE didn't start out with strong puzzles either. At first it was simple enough to draw people in.

But the billboards really intrigue me. I think they are going to rely heavy on real world locations to solve this. If they learned anything, its that the collective detective can solve puzzles in a few minutes, but real world clues were the only thing they could use to control the pace.

memphish said...

I'd guess this is the trench Naomi referenced. If you remember at the time I was having fits over how that location made no sense given a Sydney to LA divert to Fiji route.

Any bets on whether THE freighter is named Christiane 1?

Capcom and Maven, in terms of billboard hunting you might want to contact your local ABC affiliate. When they handed out Apollo bars in Memphis it was our ABC station who did it.

I've usually (by usually I mean always) been a lurker on your blog, but as it seems no one has mentioned this yet, I thought you all would find this interesting.

I emailed the different email addresses shown in Sam's inbox during one of the videos, and one of them (zkillen_t99@hotmail.com) replied to me a few hours ago. I originally asked him how he knows Sam and why he is in contact with him, and got this reply:

"Since the dawn of our species, man's been blessed with curiosity.
Your curiosity will be rewarded.

Namaste

Zeke Klotho Freundlich"

Interestingly, though it is signed Zeke Klotho Freundlich in the actual email, in my inbox it says it's from Tom Friendly!

It doesn't seem to have any exciting info (unless that Zeke name is an anagram or something, I haven't really looked into it very far), but is still interesting nonetheless.

maven said...

Memphish: Aren't the billboards supposed to be near the airports? Would ABC tell me where the billboard is?

shellma said...

Kinetic: I agree.
Memphish: Good point!!!
THE freighter!!! I'm on board!! (pun intended...lol)

That is interesting. I read over at DarkUFO earlier today that the hotmail address was the only real one and that Dark was trying to find out who it belonged to. Don't know if he has yet or not.
If you remember Sawyer called Mr. Freindly Zeke.

shellma said...

Holy S**t Molly!!!!!!!
That sounds like something!!!!
Kinetic!!! Can you dig into that???

Kinetic said...

Why do "videos" still show unreleased? Hasn't there been several already?

maven said...

Thanks for that Molly. The quote is very reminiscent of Alvar Hanso.

Kinetic said...

From the dawn of our species, Man has been blessed with curiosity. Our most precious gift, without exception, is the desire to know more - to look beyond what is accepted as the truth and to imagine what is possible.”
- Alvar Hanso, Address to the U.N. Security Council, 1967

Tess315 said...

"Since the dawn of our species, man's been blessed with curiosity."
That's a quote from Alvar Hanso and I think Mr. Friendly said that to Jack and the others in the jungle when he told them not to cross the line.

Kinetic said...

There is no technical way to find out who owns a hotmail account...only social engineering.

Tess315 said...

I've forgotten how quickly people post when these games are on. If you forget to put something in your post there's been five new posts by the time you put it in a new post. And it's usually someone saying the samething you are.
Because everyone here is so smart and on the same page.

maven said...

Every one seems to be getting the same thing:
At EPM: KyleHalv Says:
"Zeke Klotho Freundlich”

Turns out Klotho is something that provides some control over the sensitivity of the organism to insulin and appears to be involved in aging.
Said to have given mice longer lives.

Zeke was the nickname Sawyer gave Tom.
Freundlich is Friendly in German."

Ok I don't know anything about emails and I may have misspoke or misunderstood what Dark was doing.

Anyway molly got a cool reply.

shellma said...

Hey Kin...the domain reg info I got lista a phone number. Are those legit? Shoud we try calling it?

shellma said...

For the maxwell group, that is.

jess4ua said...

Does anyone know which video the email -zkillen_t99@hotmail.com -is in?

Kinetic said...

legally you are not supposed to falsify whois info.

So if you own the domain, you are required to put in your REAL info.

But noone ever does.

DiggityDirge said...

Good to see eveyone :) This is bringing back good memories. It's funny how all over this stuff people are already.

The quote from Alvar interests me. The name I'm sure will be relevant at some point, but it is interesting the the Hanso Foundation is coming up again aleady.

I checked the HF site just for giggles and no updates. Looking forward to the game.

shellma said...

There's a VERY spoilerish post about the find815 site over at Docartz if anybody is interested....
http://www.docarzt.com/lost-arg/lost-find-815-message-from-mum.php#more

DiggityDirge said...

I think someone already asked this, but I have rewatched all the vids and don't see where people got the email addresses from?

I see the list of emails in Sam's inbox (one about an LA Meeting, one about a turbine engine, etc) but the email addresses are hidden and there is now way to open them. What am I missing?

Also, anyone no what the audi says when you click on the maxwell group in the retruned email?

maven said...

diggitydirge: Those emails have been erased. Now there's just the user names with no "@" by them.

DiggityDirge said...

thanks Maven.

maven said...

Over at DocArtz it's been noted that on the Sunda Trench info on Sam's computer the part about the tsunami is no longer there. Why would they do that?

Kinetic said...

I'm still seeing it.

jess4ua said...

I posted an update about the emails(thanks Molly!) It took me a while because I was trying to find them! LOL
I find it very strange that TPTB are removing information. Why would they do that? Maybe that is why Speaker told us to take screenshots. hehehe

Kinetic said...

I just cleared all cookies, saved info, etc, logged back in and am still seeing everything.

jess4ua said...

Kinetic-What and where are you seeing???

with the last ARG, I think they underestimated the geek factor and left a lot open for the pc savvy person. Server directories were exposed before they were supposed, photos and documents accessed, etc. I'm sure that’s what going on here. They flipped the switch before everything was locked down.

The email no longer says it is from Tom Friendly. It now has the email address listed as the alias name.

Also, wasn't a character from the last LOST ARG named Tom Friendly or I am imagining things?

Kinetic said...

Maybe I am confused. I'm still seeing the info about the Sundra trench

maven said...

I know...it's so bizarre how everything keeps changing and disappearing. I guess it's time I learn how to take screenshots! LOL

maven said...

Kinetic: The info about the Sunda trench is still there, but the last item which mentioned the tsunami is not!

Kinetic said...

StionZer0 is reporting about the flickr page. But it looks like it was quickly changed

http://www.flickr.com/photos/21690848@N02/2150825229/

maven said...

Something else changed!

I never even looked at that help area. They sure do spell out everything for you, don't they? They seem to have everything covered and explained. It's not as mysterious as TLE. (But I still love it!)

Kinetic said...

Ok some observations:

Speaker posted his video on youtube.

Everyone noted about the purple sun. This could easily be a camera issue. But then Speaker posted this:

Speaker said:

Well, that's what I "ASSUME" it is, anyway - I didn't do anything to the footage, but I can't speak for what happened to it when it wasn't in my sight...

So then we see over at StationZer0 that they may have found the flickr
page.

Which was PROMPTLY removed and replaced with
The photo you were looking for has been deleted.

You might like to ask find815.com about it!

And last but not least...Ninja points to Sam's Facebook

Good hunting all! And find info out!

Hi gang! I'm finally all caught up. Whew! This looks like it's gonna be fun...

I can't find the "Help Sam Pack" game anymore. The link isn't at the abc site anymore. I had a go at it this evening, but was interrupted. When I got back (after midnight) it was gone. Rats. I was hoping to solve it on my own.

What's up with that?

andrew. said...

the e-mail addresses weren't wiped. They were never in the laptop on sam's desk. They only appeared at the top of the e-mail puzzle where you searched to find the Maxwell Group website.

andrew. said...

oops sorry. i just went back and did the e-mail puzzle again and the e-mail addresses have been edited so that they no longer contain the domains. sorry i misunderstood, just figured everybody was looking at Sam's inbox.

Ange said...

Good Morning Gang!
I am back to work today and will be around in little spurts. I did update the main page with the flickr and Facebook information though (thanks Kinetic).

Also, our e-mail address is OceanicConspiracies@gmail.com if you think you have something new please e-mail us, even if it's been posted elsewhere.

Have a great day everyone!

memphish said...

Boy you go to sleep and next morning there are 42 new comments. No joke. I'm bummed things are disappearing since I haven't really gotten to play yet and won't still until late tonight. Yeah for Molly and everyone else for getting as much as possible while it's still there.

As for the billboards Maven aren't we just assuming they're near the airport? I can't recall where the one in Portland was found. Capcom might have the easier time contacting her local affiliate since it's likely to be smaller and people are more likely to think it's weird to put up a fake billboard.

I've got 8 or so hours on the road ahead. I'm betting there's 108 or even 815 comments by the time I'm back. Have a good day hunting.

I was reading the help section as Maven suggested and was bummed to find out that the game is only on for 5 weeks until the premier.

On one hand I'm glad there is a game, on the other hand I wish they would have started it a little earlier. :)

Oh well, back to work and hoping an update happens so I have someting to do today!

After the flickr and facebook pages, I was poking around myspace for Sam and found this. I'm sure it is old news.
