Chapter 2 - Finally

Morning all. Fenris here. Seems I can access everything this morning so let's get with the update!

After a brief recap of episode one we see Sam arrive at the Christiane 1. The captain (Mr. Ockham) isn't keen on having him tag along, but an opportunity presents itself in the form of a broken chart plotter. IT guy extrordinaire Sam offers to fix the plotter himself in return for passage aboard and the Captain agrees.

Here follows a timed game (*Click here to see the solution. Thanks to Elizabeth for e-mailing the picture!). The game itself is simple but with three minutes to do it, I have to admit it took me three tries. The game basically involves rotating squares on a board to get the circuitboard to match up with no loose lines. There are three boards to fix in the time.

Once repaired the captain lets you on board. However a mysterious Mr.Talbot, who's company is paying for the expedition (and has "special requirements") seems suspicious and appears to know more about Sam then he is letting on. Fortunatly, Mr.Ockham, wanting to honour his word to Sam, comes to his defence and states "Given our destination I can't rule out a complete electronics meltdown..."

Mr Talbot

Back to the Sam's Desk and we see there has been some activity before Sam left.

  • As reported during the Chapter 1 recap, Sam has sent a further email to his friend Trace, asking if she can find information about "Black Rock" and how it may link to the Christiane 1.
  • Sam has sent a response to Sean Dowling at Oceanic claiming he has indeed returned all their property and he sees no reason for them not to release his final pay pack.
  • Finally Sam has received a very mysterious email from an unknown sender. This email is nothing but numbers but if you look closely at it you can see some numbers are written in grey rather then black and appear to be as follows "-1 1. 1 7 8 4"

According to the "My Progress" section that is all for this update. However there are in total 6 Emails (1 found, so I guess some of the above didn't count), 3 Web Sites, 1 Video, 1 Message, 1 Activity (complete), and FOUR clue hunts (makes sense while your on a salvage boat) listed as part of this chapter.

That's it.
~Namaste, Fenris

PS: I've left this last bit from the original Post as Ange has a good point. It's a bit early to be breaking down the doors of random companies (Unless their names are Hanso, Maxwell, Paik or Widmore, naturally). [Fenris]

I don't even need to really say this, but please just be patient. I don't think it's wise to start e-mailing the companies hired to create this game for us (until we know for sure who they are). No one could really ever mean for this to happen. Just my two cents.

It's disappointing but certainly not the end of the world. Maybe it'll be back up tomorrow.

I'm not going to mail anyone and complain...except here! TPTB for this game knows how fanatical us Lost fans are and we'd all be waiting when the clock hit 0000. Plus they do this graffitti campaign today advertising the site even more. Rant over.

I feel lucky I was able to get on briefly this evening! It's definitely worth the wait. This was my favorite part so far! I heart PUZZLES!

sam's eyes are so prettyyyy . he's like a little puppy dogg .

oh come onn you guys were all thinking it hahahaaha

i will never get onto this site ever .

Thanks admins for the new place to post, if/when we get something to comment about. Yeah- I mean I don't know anything about this stuff, but you'd think they would have known (esp. after TLE) what they were in for. Oh well. My kids are really into Webkinz (as are kids around the country), and the Webkinz site was flooded all Christmas day and the day after. Not that that is important, I just think it's funny that even children have the ability to crash a website.

Scoutpost said...

Maven- guess you and I will have to carry the torch into the night since we're west coasters! :)

OOh LSU just intercepted a pass. Doesn't look good for OSU.

maven said...

There's also a new email up on Dark's site if you want to go the spoiler route.

EF? How much have you had to drink tonight...? ;)

The_Ambster said...

I'm fading fast! Can't believe I'm up this late! Guess I keep hoping I can finish the PUZZLES.

I'm fading even faster as I get more frustrated. My pain drugs are making me very groggy...I guess I'll get the site cool down over night!

haha i do not drink . i do however have a lot of teenage hormones . :)
omg why have i not noticed how cute he is before . he should be on losttt .

I guess I'll check back tomorrow. I don't think I have the stamina to wait for it. I did manage to pack Sam's bag again though while I was waiting - that part seems to work for some reason. Is it on a different server?

shellma said...

ugh...night all!

I gave it one last try as LSU valiantly brings the victory in for the SEC. I'm glad my brother-in-law's staying in NOLA tonight. I'm sure it will be a wild one. Last one for him as by next year there will be a baby at home.

As for find815.com I was back to the Apache error page. It suggests as an enduser we should contact webmaster@find815.com. I sent them an email telling them basically what I've said here that that they need to up their bandwidth if they want to play with the big boys. It's their own noses they are cutting off if they can't provide the content they've contracted to provide. They are losing future jobs, plus reducing the chance people will continue to play this game. Hopefully they will take some of it to heart before a Nikki and Paolo style-backlash rears its ugly head.

Hello! Not sure if you have the translation for the Seoul billboard, but it looks like it says

"Adventure starts here."

and

"will arrive at the last desitination"

The subject of the last sentence is either I, you, or we...or they.,..it doesn't say and it depends on context.

Hope that helps

Scoutpost said...

I'm back to the Apache error page also memphish. It's only 10:00 here, well not even yet. So I think I'll keep trying for a while.

Beverly said...

Well, I emailed in a snapshot of Sam's desk in its new configuration (on board the boat, I presume) but when I tried get snapshots of the videos and of the game, I got the error page again and now I'm stuck there.

It's late for me (I'm on the east coast) so I'm calling it a night.

The_Ambster said...

Can anyone else see the picture I loaded to my profile?

Tess315 said...

Well I took a chance and reloaded the page and I'm in.
But unfortunately I don't know how to do screen shots so I can't help the blog there.
Now the fun part is going to be fixing the chart plotter in 3 minutes. It's past midnight here so I may just wait until tomorrow.

Scoutpost said...

Well I've read about how pets enjoy the healing power of music, about the changes to the Golden Globes, Nicole Kidman's pregnancy, watched LSU receive the BCS trophy and video of Hillary crying in N.H. and......I'm finally in! Let's see how it goes!

Tess315 said...

Well once you get the puzzle you get the rest of the video. The Captain welcomes him aboard but Mr. Talbot (who looks like the guy they found at the begining of Sam's video diary)questions who he is and why he wants to be on the ship and what he's running from. Sam says he just an regular guy. Mr. Talbot says yeah with a regular life and job and girlfriend. Sam gives him a look at this comment. The Captain convinces him to let Sam stay aboard. Then there's new email that is nothing but a series of numbers.
That's all I'm doing I'm going to bed now. I'll look at the email tomorrow.

Tess315 said...

Also the email that was found at DarkUFO earlier where Sam tells Oceanic he's returned their property is there too.

Unknown said...

I got in, and I'm done so far. Two e-mails to read, and an activity have been released so far.

There's an e-mail that looks like it could be HEX (maybe?) (of course, you can't highlight the text, so it'd have to be manually entered into a translator). There's also the e-mail that states that Sam has returned his property.

The puzzle is one of those make all the lines connect within this box sort of puzzles (it's couched within a challenge to fix a circuit board). Took me the second try to get it.

The cutscenes introduce us to the mystery man who seemed so familiar to everyone. His name is Mr. Talbot, and he's very white-collar mysterious. The captain of the Christiane I is named Mr. Ockham. A quick Google search on "Occam" should tell you all you need to know about the significance of this guy's name.

If you wanna know what I think is so familiar about Mr. Talbot, aka Mystery Man, it's that he looks an awful lot like Sawyer.

Twins, anyone?

Unknown said...

Here's the View rules

Here's the View board

Once you solve the puzzle, it moves too damn fast to get a screen cap, just in case you wanted to cheat. Sorry! I didn't take notes.

Scoutpost said...

Well I got screen caps of the video before the puzzle, at least the only way I know how to do screen caps (by copying them onto Word documents), but don't know how to post them. To email them, I'd have to send a bunch of emails. See this is where I'm really technically challenged. Anyway, working now on the last puzzle.

And, yeah that email looks like it needs to be deciphered. Also, did anyone else notice that there are some numbers in it that are "gray" or lighter than others? I don't know if it's just my computer or not. And, since I haven't looked on DarkUFO (since I wanted to do this all by my little 'ol self) I don't know if this has already been mentioned/solved. But the numbers that are "gray" for me are 111784. Does anyone think this means anything?

Of course most of you are asleep by now.

Unknown said...

scoutpost, if you have them saved as JPG files, go to www.picvault.info. Click on Browse, select the picture you want to upload , then click Upload Image. Picvault will give you all the URLs and link formats you could ever want to post them.

To post clickable links so we can see them in the comment threads, use the code that starts < a href=" >... Copy and paste it into a comment. Where the code reads "View Image," you can change that text so the link we click says whatever you want it to say.

Scoutpost said...

Well I finished the puzzles and saw the rest of the video. spoiler follows:

Sam fixes the chart plotter and earns a seat on the ship. Mr. Ockham tells Mr. Talbot that he doubts the equipment will last the remainder of the trip, and considering where they are going expects a complete electrical meltdown. Mr. Talbot is extremely suspicious of Sam and basically pegs him like sayid's girl says in above comment. Talbot pauses though when he says Sam has the perfect girlfriend, which makes Sam suspicious. Talbot says later on he will have to install security measures and gives a threatening look toward Sam (I think Sam is in trouble). Talbot gives Sam a creepy "welcome aboard" and leaves.

Then it flashes forward to Sam's desk, which is on the ship (stuff we packed in Sam's bag).

Scoutpost said...

Thanks Kyle- I will try, but it may take me a while.

Scoutpost said...

Hmmm...well I didn't save them as JPG's. And so I don't know what to do, if there is anything to do. It's late here and I have to go to bed, I'm sure by the time people are on in the am that they will be posted somewhere.

Black Swan said...

It took me so long to get the site working and to do the circuit board thing, you're all probably in bed already (and I should be)

scoutpost said...
I don't know if this has already been mentioned/solved. But the numbers that are "gray" for me are 111784. Does anyone think this means anything?

How about a password for the Maxwell Group site?

Also, the way I do screencaps is to paste it into Paint and save as JPEG (not going to help you at this point-sorry).

oh wow so this is what happens:

i reload the site this morning

and guess what ??

ALL OF MY CHAPTER 1 activity was erased .

so now i gotta start yet AGAIN .

Ange said...

Morning Gang, I was up at 5:30, and then screamed HOORAY when I saw Fenris was doing the update!! I had time to look at find815 and do the puzzle instead!

Something I noted in the success video. Mr. Ockham says to Mr. Talbot, "Given our destination I can't rule out a complete electronics meltdown..."

Further enhancing the idea that the Sunda Trench area is odd not just in location but in property. Also, if the island is there may contribute to the "special properties" always talked about there as well.

EF: I know this is a silly question, but you made an account on find815 and are logged in right?

memphish said...

I finally got in this morning and completed everything. Took me 2 tries on the circuit boards. It still seems that the email to Tracey is missing in our progress reports. It hasn't fit in Ch.1 or Ch.2. That phone on the desk isn't a sat phone is it? It looks like a regular phone.

Any guesses as to why someone named Talbot would be looking in the Sunda Trench? And why is he still wearing a tie? I'm planning to rewatch The Man From Tallahassee today. If I catch any Talbot clues, I'll let you know.

Ange said...

memphish: Good point about the tie. Very formal on this salvage vessel aren't they. The thing on his desk looks like a plain old phone. I would assume the sat phone is on the ship. From the "special equipment" and his seeming prior knowledge of Sam it seems like whoever Talbot is working for has hired the Christaine 1 to find flight 815.

Also, I understand dramatic element and all but really, why would Sam's video diary 1 have a blip of Mr. Talbot in it? How would that get there if he hadn't even met him when he made that tape?. Is this another time clue or just a "neat thing" to make us go ahhh?

lost2010 said...

Well, I jotted down the answer to the two smaller puzzle squares but when I completed the largest one, it flashed away before I could make notes.

That Talbot guy sort of looks like Kate's husband from I Do, but I know it's not him.

gavwvin said...

Hi everyone... first post since last year's game, glad to be back!

Just an idea about 11.1784, could possibly be a date? November 1784?

memphish said...

Or 11/17/84?

Speaking of Kate's husband; Desperate Housewives spoiler to follow

*************************

that actor should be available if that's the him Kate needs to get back to

*****************

Yes, I through myself on the Desperate Housewives hand grenade looking for an Oceanic Airlines commercial. There was none. According to the latest LOSTCasts podcast they think that the Oceanic commercial, if it was real, aired in late night. It would make sense to air it during Kimmel I suppose since he's such a LOST fan.

memphish said...

through = threw

Guess I need more coffee.

lost2010 said...

If you plot 11.1784 for both longitude and latitude, you get a point somewhere in Nigeria. But the minus is throwing me off.

Ange said...

I am unable to do this now, and I'm sure someone has already though about it, but there is a good binary translator here if anyone wants to type in the long strings of numbers from Sam's e-mail.

Capcom said...

Morning fellow spies, interesting developments...finally. :-)

I was thinking exactly the same thing Ange, why the Talbot blip earlier? Just for creep-factor's sake? Unless there is is now some way to wirelessly intercept someone's video camera while they are using it in their own home. Doubtless, "they" have been monitoring Sam since he shot off his big mouth on TV but still. It cracks me up that in real life, Talbot would have probably just killed Sam once he discovered him and thrown him overboard. But, then there would be no game.

You're braver than moi Memphish, I considered doing the Housewives monitoring, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Kimmel watching is indeed a better and more palatable idea. :-)

P.S. I can see it Ambster.

Fenris-love the summary of chap 2, but FYI Sukanaro is the IT guy that originally built and installed the special equipment that Mr. Talbot ordered. The captain was asking his mate to call him to fix the broken chart plotter that Sam offered to fix....we still don't know who Talbot's employer is.
My guess would be one of the top dogs like Widmore, Paik or Hanso.
Anyway, thank you guys so much for all the work! You do such a great job...

hey guys. I've been away for awhile now. you miss me? ha ha anyways I was suspicious of the name Mr. Sukanaro, it's an anagram for "A Sank Rumor" coincidence? I think not!

maven said...

Well, you guys have done a great job catching up with everything last night and this morning. I finally can get on the site, but nothing works right. Can't get the video to run, nothing is in the in-box or sent emails. I'll have to give it more time I guess and check in later. :(

DiggityDirge said...

Finally just got through it.

Hope I'm not giving anything away because I heard the word spoilers, but Peter Talbot was the son of the woman that Copper/Seward/The Real Sawyer was going to marry. But the character is clearly not the same actor.

Would the woman in love with Cooper be sending out a party to find him after his abduction, and why would the son (Peter) be trying to find him. Peter wanted Cooper out his mom's life altogether. Seems weird.

The family did have money, so maybe this is the business they are in and it has nothing to do with Cooper? The only other thing I can think of is that Cooper did complete his con on Ms. Talbot and Peter is on a Sawyer like quest to find him???

DiggityDirge said...

DiggityDirge said...

Just rewatched the vids on find815.com. They do never say Peter. They call him Mr. Talbot. Forget my previous statements and forgive mw. Maybe a realative?

Can't be Peter with a different actor. Just seems weird that they wouls still use the name Talbot after we have already had another character/family with that name on the show.

DiggityDirge said...

god I need a spell checker :) Doing that now.

shellma said...

Mornin' all!! I got in and made my progress...
Sorry Mav! I'm no tekkie, but maybe something to do with temp internet files and such...?
And now it says we have like 34 hours to go. Or 38 hours in TPTFU time! Lol

shellma said...

Oh, and that's tottlay a sat phone on the desk. Look at the upper left...you can see the big azz antenna! :)

shellma said...

Apparently I need a spell checker as well Diggitydirge!

Scoutpost said...

Morning all!

Codysmom- thanks for the tips on saving screen caps. I can do that- if I ever get another chance to be one of the first to do something (which is highly unlikely- ha!).

The fact that Ockham mentions complete electronic meltdown has got to be significant!

Also, I like the idea of the 11.1784 being a coordinate- and Nigeria wouldn't be bad- could be something related to Mr. Eko.

Probably will miss you all most of today- it's my baby's birthday- he's 4!

Unknown said...

diggity: You're on the same track I am; except I think that this Talbot could be self-named just like Sawyer. Perhaps Anthony Cooper conned someone else using the name "Talbot," and the Mr. Talbot we saw on the Christiane I was affected by that con similarly to Sawyer.

According to Lostpedia, we've all missed the mention of his first name: "Owen."

Scoutpost said...

"Owen"? Are they sure it wasn't just someone saying "oh..and..." LOL

maven said...

FINALLY! Got in and did everything! Now I'm caught up at last.

Mr. Talbort could be Peter Talbort's brother out for revenge? Although he mentions his employers (which could be anyone from Hanso, Widmore, Paik, or all three). Also, the fact that the Captain Ockham mentions electrical interference, references the anomaly on Lost island.

Also, what security measures are going to be installed asap by Mr. Talbort?

FYSB said...

Grrr. It's a good thing that Sam and Sonya's fate is not in my hands because I can not finish the freakin' puzzle and by the time I can get the site to reload after multiple tries, I've forgotten how I'd gotten as far as I had the previous time so it's like starting from scratch. I'm going to post a flickr photo of me in a TPTFU shirt pretty soon.
/grr

Unknown said...

maven

(it's Talbot, no 'R')

I think the security measures could very likely be designed to prevent copying the chart or using that plotter to relocate their destination after they get there.

memphish said...

I've got the subtitles on when I watch the videos, but I don't recall seeing anything about Owen. I tried to get in a few minutes ago and the site wouldn't load. "Surprise, surprise, surprise!" said Gomer.

I like that we have a crossed name in Talbot, but at this point I know I'm reading way too much into this to think that it's linked to Cooper and his disappearance unless A Coop omitted key facts in his confession to Sawyer about what he was up to in Florida when he got into that wreck. I think it's more likely that the Talbots who Cooper was coincidentally scamming 4 years prior to Flight 815's disappearance is linked to Widmore/Paik/Hanso or whoever the Freighter people turn out to be.

maven said...

Sorry about the "r" in Talbot, Memphish. Guess I was overly excited about finally getting in! (Plus I'm still on pain meds. LOL)

Unknown said...

That was me, maven, and it's nothing! Pain meds? Yikes. You've got full typographical exemption.

memphish: It is an awfully big jump. Should we be applying the lesson's of the Captain's name to the Talbot coincidence?

memphish said...

Hope you feel better soon Maven! Hey, don't worry about me and spelling. I stikn at it. ;-)

Ange and Fenris, when can we start raining down wrath on TPTB (or other initials)? I got back in, but now there's noting on the laptop. Nevertheless it tells me I've found 1 of the emails for this chapter. I could have sworn this morning it told me I had 2 especially given there were 2 new ones on there at that time.

BTW, anyone else notice the large key next to Sonya's picture? I wonder what it's going to open.

memphish said...

noting = nothing See I told you Maven.

DiggityDirge said...

I have to agree with Kyle on the name memphish. That would be too large of an error for TPTB to make, although they do make a lot.

DiggityDirge said...

now the spell checks fixes stuff it shouldn't. I can't win!

Let me try again.

I heard it in there Kyle, but I don't think Owen and MR. Talbot are intended to be the same person. I think the Captain was talking to two different people.

Captain: Owen, get Sakarno on the phone and tell him his handy work is gonna cost us two days.

Talbot asks: What is it?

Captain: I'm afraid Mr. Talbot we won't be leaving today.

I think Owen is a crew member in charge of getting Talbot's equipment set up. You never see Talbot pick up the phone yet Sakarno gets called to help non the less. I think they are two different people.

Ange said...

memphish: LOL you can lay the smack on TPTB whenever you like :D. My intention was just to have people be carful about sending mails to the wrong TPTBs (others were asking people to e-mail a specific company) as no company has officially been recognised as the designers of the game. Maybe direct the mails to ABC/Disney?

Tess315 said...

memphish
The name Owen was used when the chart plotter fried. The Captain yelled down Owen get Sukano on the phone. Then Mr. Talbot comes up and asks what's wrong. I'm not sure Mr. Talbot is Owen or he just came up to see what was wrong. I got the impression Owen was a crew member but I could be wrong.
I was also wondering about the Talbot connection if there is one. And Captain Ockham has an interesting last name.

Happy Birtday to Scoutpost's baby!
Maven hope you heal soon.

But I agree with you. Obviously.

Tess315 said...

Unknown said...

I'll have to watch the video again. I'm not advocating for a position, mind you; I'm just reporting what Lostpedia has posted.

A question for anyone: Does ABC have to publish the credits for these cutscenes? Why is it so fundamentally difficult to learn the names of the actors portraying these characters?

Capcom said...

Hey all, in between the TLE-2 excitement, don't forget to stop over at Dennis' Cloverfield blog. Things are really getting exciting in the ocean in that story too!

Unknown said...

I rewatched, and I agree that "Owen" and "Mr. Talbot" are two different entities. I'm working on it over at Lostpedia.

shellma said...

So...
I'm wondering about this email. I guess no one has yet gleaned anything form it aside from the "coordinate theory"? At first glance I thought it was a message is code, and I guess it could still be. Maybe between the grey numbers, is a message. Unfortunately, I know nothing about deciphering or whatever you call those things. Also, I'm thinking if they ARE coordinates, maybe we'll get the other half at some point. Which leads to my next question. If they are coordinates, where do they go? Sunda and the plane? The island? Maybe we'll be finding out where the island is located this season(not to say everyone will know). The Freighter people found it just fine.

shellma said...

Come to think of it, why would the Freighter peeps hire a boat to take them to the Island? Little bit top secret for that, don't you think? I am leaning towards they aren't going to the Island, just the trench. Maybe Talbot's peeps are just after the same thing Sam is....confirming the plane is there (although for different reasons).

memphish said...

Well, just fine if you don't mind a helicopter crash and a dead pilot right Shellma? :D

I wish we new if this was pre or post key-turning. That might be what Ockham's referring to with his frying the electronics stuff.

memphish said...

I officially apologize for what seems to have been the utter destruction of all my spelling braincells. new = knew in the last post obviously. I will try to be more careful and less stupid looking in the future.

Unknown said...

shell, if the number we have so far is the latitude, and doubling it got us somewhere near Nigeria, then we're still in business.

EEEE! I'm sorry, but I love talking about LOST again.

shellma said...

I don't put too much stock into overanalizing timelines, because TPTFU have made too many mistakes.....either accidentally or on purpose to confuse us. BUT, having said that, I think it picks up right at the end of S3.

Fenris said...

diggity - Yeah I totally agree. Owen isn't the same person as Mr.Talbot. No way he's the kind of person the captain can order around. I'm kinda suprised the peeps on Lostpedia lept to the conclusion it was the same person really.

Carol Dunstan said...

Kyle, it's not that difficult to get the names of the actors (except the green man, noone seems certain on him). I had Sam picked just couldn't think of his name. Recognised Ockham too but needed DarkUFO to post his name too. Lostpedia has them.

following Ockham's razor I think it's safe to assume that Talbot is a tthe least a relative and probably a brother of Peter. That said... if we went with the simplest answer we wouldn't have found half what we did in the last game (things hidden in pictures for example). I'd rather do too much theorising and investigating than not enough... but it also kinda explains why we are spoonfed so much of this stuff rather than having to discover it ourselves

DiggityDirge said...

My bad Kyle. I could tell you weren't advocating the name, just filling us in. I guess I just came across strong in my post. My apologies.

Anyway, the same is going on at DarkUfo. Everyone is calling him Owen already. I'm trying to get them to recognize it also.

Black Swan said...

Hello to all!

First, HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY, BABY-SCOUTPOST!

Second, Hey, Maven.... Hope you're recovering quickly! (Elizabeth=adorable...I'm still jealous)

Third, hi fysb! I had a heck of a time with the puzzle, too! Go to Dark Ufo's and they have solutions... I guess it's cheating, but I wouldn't tell.....

I'm not sure about Talbot yet, but I'm thinking that -11.1784 is a lattitude and we're waiting for the longitude. It would be cool if it leads to the (IMO) planted flight 815 plane and they discover that what they thought was the dead passengers were really maniquins.

lost2010 said...

It also looks like Christmas Island is pretty close to -11.1784 South.

The globe I'm using is probably not even accurate though. It's one I used to have in my son's room as a decorative touch.

Black Swan said...

lost 2010... hmmm, TPTB did say they would address CHRISTMAS on the show:)

Tess315 said...

Kyle
That goes for me too. I was just trying to let memphish know where the name Owen came from. And give my opinion on it. Wasn't saying anyone was right or wrong.

memphish said...

Here's my new crazy theory for the day. I think Talbot has been hired by Mittelos to "find" 815 in the Sunda Trench. I don't think the Island is anywhere near the Sunda Trench, but is in the Pacific east of Fiji. In exchange, Mittelos has removed Cooper securing the Talbot family's revenge on him for Peter's death.

Fenris said...

It's interesting they've dropped in the Ockham's razor thing. But not sure it necessarily relates to how we should interpret clues to this game.

As for Talbot, It doesn't feel right to me that he is any relative of the Peter Talbot we know of. According to wiki Talbot can also be a nonstandard unit of luminous energy, a lunar crater, towns in both the US and Oz, A winery, an optical cavity, a Warship, a snow white hunting dog breed or it could refer to A Naval commander called Silas Talbot, Lady Eleanor Talbot or Mary Anne Talbot (a woman that dressed as a man to become a sailor!).

Then again it could mean nothing. Talbot didn't seem as strange a name as Ockham, that one I think must have been put in because of the Razor thing, but they do like to name drop philosophers and stuff like that as easter eggs.

I like it, memphish!

Since I didn't play in real-time last week, I have a question. Are these "clues" on find815.com always popping up only at the designated time? Since the countdown clock on the site is showing 29 hours 11 minutes, does that mean that NOTHING NEW will happen until then?

DiggityDirge said...

Agreed about the philosopher thing Fenris.

I just have a hard time that out of all the names they could choose, they choose one of a previous LOST characters, even if it is a minor character.

To me, it's the same as using Nations, Phillips, or Malkin. Just seems weird.

Yes for the most part.

The story and the major items likes vm's, games, etc. have all been by the clock. A few emails and some other erros have popped up in between but we haven't been able to do much with them until the story continued.

At least that's my take.

Just wanted to quickly mention again that Elizabeth sent us a screen cap of the solved circuit puzzles, and there is a link on the main page (if you didn't feel like traveling all the way over to Dark UFO for it).

Hey, diggity, sayid'sgirl, no hurt feelings! I was just clarifying. And I totally agree that the Lostpedians were wrong. One goofus over there still thinks he's right, but I'm sure their original take is wrong.

Anyone know how long it takes for mods at Lostpedia to weigh in on Renames?

FYSB said...

What the ???? I finally got those circuits to line up after way too many tries (seriously, I have to learn to do this during non-work hours) and its 29 hours til the next clue? Is that right? Teehee, had I known I would not have risked my career and just did it tonight.

Since EF has claimed Sam DreamyEyes for her own, I think I will moon over the evil NotOwen.

Black Swan said...

Thanks for the info, diggity. Hmm, not sure if I like this format or not. And, for what it's worth, I also think it's more than coincidence that the name is Talbot (a name we know from Lost).

Black Swan said...

Hee hee, fysb. I feel your pain...

And, geez.... who does that leave me to moon over? Ockham? Nah, I'll just have to steal one of yours.....

Hi everyone. Just managed to see chapter two activity. I think I can honestly say, that I can do the puzzle faster than anyone. I did it about 20 times before I realized you had to turn the terminators. LOL! Sheesh I need glasses, or at least some sleep.

Okay, I am off to catch up on comments so I can join in the conversations.

shellma said...

I agree Diggitydirge and Codysmom. I think the name Talbot is just a little tooo coincidental for TPTFU to use twice and not notice it. It must be connected.

FYSB said...

cody'smom loves ockham! nah nah nah nah nah!

(Hands closing around fysb's throat)... why, I oughta .....

Fenris said...

It is quite a co-incidence and maybe there is something there. Really it's just a gut instinct. Obviously that family must have had money otherwise they wouldn't have been a target for a con, so it's all entirely possible. But... Well I'm just not feeling it.

Also I suddenly remember why the name seemed familiar to me. David Talbot, is a character from various Anne Rice novels and a key member in the Talamasca. A secret society set up to observe and chronicle the supernatural. It's been nagging at my brain since I saw the name this morning. Two things we know the Lost guys like to reference are philosophers and literature. So that could actually be the reason behind the name, especially if this Talbot is part of a secret society.

Ahhhh, you know it feels good to get that off my brain even if it is probably wrong.

Ange said: Something I noted in the success video. Mr. Ockham says to Mr. Talbot, "Given our destination I can't rule out a complete electronics meltdown..."
That is the one thing that really stuck out to me in the video as well.
And I know the chances of having the game and the show overlap are pretty slim......but......I couldn't help to think that the Christiane 1 is Penny's boat. The mention of equipment reminds me of the plane she had sent out. Probably not even close to right though.
I beginning to think that they are headed toward the island though. First, because they are on an expedition to find the black rock. Second, because of the electionics meltdown.
If so, do they know there is an island there, or do they just know that boats tend to "disappear".

jess4ua said...

Also, I got booted off find815.com and cant get back in. I just get a blank white screen. Anyone else having this problem?

memphish said...

I went back to look at what we learned about The Black Rock in TLE and there's nothing there that links it to the Sunda Trench. Instead it says the last place The Black Rock was seen was Papua New Guinea which is due north of Eastern Australia and that the natives said the boat was heading east instead of the expected west. West would have taken it both back to Africa and toward the Sunda Trench.

THANK-YOU that has been driving me nits since this morning.

Well, why not. It makes as much sense as anything else we've come up with. It looked like Mr. Talbot has quite the little set up there in the bottom of that boat (I could see his computer monitor in the back), and with the clear ties to the show right there on Sam's desk, this is a very valid observation...just saying.

jess4ua said...

Memphish, that is bizarre. Especially since the Christiane 1 is on an expedition to salvage the Black Rock in the Sunda Trench. Or maybe it is just a cover, but why use the Black Rock as a cover? hmmmmmmmm

Well, could this be where the idea of reversed compass comes into play or the fact that maybe things seems to go around in circles when near the island?

Joseph Finchum said...

Yeah, jess4ua,

I got home from work and tried to go straight to F815 and all I am getting is the white screen... ARG!

I read something the other day about going in through www.find815.com/(something)scene two(something)

Anyone here know what that was about or is that like a backdoor that bypasses the initial loadup?

Diablo said...

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get Find815 to work again.

Good afternoon all:

I'm just getting the white screen now with find815. Will it ever end.

I would love for this thing to tie in with where we left the Losties at the end of S3. I know time turns differently in the Lost world, but Oceanic when active Dec. 31st. Sam went "active" looking for his love and answers at the same time. It would be great if the Christiane I was the freighter. It would also be plausible that Mr. Talbot's employers could be the Hanso/Paik/Wildmore threesome. If Mr. Talbot is related somehow to Peter Talbot, money would not be an issue. With Ockham talking about electronic problems, that would tie in with the island.
However, most likely that Christiane I is going to the Sunda Trench. Maybe what they find will disprove Namoi's and Cooper's story about Flight 815 being found there and everyone was dead.

Joseph Finchum said...

OMG I got in for the first time since Friday, Hopefully I will be able to get something done and finally get to see what you are all talking about. I hate spoilers in the game... lol ... I just want to figure it out on my own first.

C-ya in a bit.

(dinner time as well)

memphish said...

When I try to go just to find815.com I get the white screen, but if I go to find815.com/site/index.php I get in.

memphish said...

But dadgumit, it's still not completely right because again it showed I didn't have the emails until I went to the laptop and clicked them again. TPTB have 25 hours and 47 minutes to get their rears in gear and fix this crap. Then I'm with Shellma on their new acronym.

Everything seems to be in order on my find815 now. But I'm not holding my breath!

Ange said...

memphish said...Then I'm with Shellma on their new acronym.

I would like a shirt with that on it, just for general everyday wear.

Also back to what memphish said about the Black Rock heading east instead of the expected west. We are all thinking that maybe the Christaine 1 is searching for the wreckage of the Black Rock. Really though, all Sam asked Trace for was to, "...find out what you can about the 'black rock' and how it connects to the Christaine 1 or it's expedition." Also we get the words 'black rock' on Sonya's face in the picture.

So, maybe someone is trying to tell Sam that the Black Rock is connected. Maybe they're trying to get him to look into it because it really did go in an entirely different direction that it was reported/supposed to go.

Oh, and I have zero access to find815.

I like NotOwen too FYSB, but I was afraid to say it. I always like the way too serious guys.

I was digging a little more into the Black Rock. I went to lostpedia first, just to see what we already know. One interesting point is that the Black Rock supposedly went to mine for Gold and was on its way home when it disappeared.
As I was reading there, one of the questions posted was "How did the Black Rock get so far inland on the island". Heh, so I did a little research....looky what I found on NationalGeographic.
There was another Tsunami along the Sumatra/Sunda Trench in 1881. The same year the Black Rock disappeared! HMMMMMMM! Water may be the only thing that could have moved a ship that big into the middle of an island.

shellma said...

See...I don't think that it's Penny's boat. Like I said before, Why on such a super-secret mission AND a bankroll would she (or the bad guys either) HIRE a boat?
Doesn't make sense to me. And Mr. Ockham said Talbot's employers requested his passage at the last minute....So that tells me they were alreasy going wherever they were going.

shellma said...

Holy Sheep Sh*t Jess!!!!
I been wondering about that since day 1!!!!!!!!!!!
Cooooooooool!

jess4ua said...

Yeah, Shell, you have a point. And seeing that the Black Rock was mining for Gold, I think there is a possibility there are a lot of "treasure hunters" looking for it.

FYSB said...

Great. Both Cody'sMom AND PoopCam are after my man.

Back off ladies! I will be Mrs. Fysb NotOwen over your dead bodies!

memphish said...

Now treasure hunters I can get behind. But I watch National Geographic and they don't wear ties. ;)

I'll get in line behind EF for men in play.

shellma said...

Send me some Desmond....

Fenris said...

Woah. Nice work Jess.

Capcom said...

Wow, great ideas about the Black Rock! I swear, whenever TPTB ever do finish this story, it will not even be half as interesting as we have imagined it to be. And if the TPTB say, "That's what we wanted you to do with the story!", I will punch them after Rose punches Jack for saying, well, you know. >:o)

Maybe Talbot has an eviler twin for me. :-x

maven said...

Great research on Black Rock, Jess! With the Christiane I being a salvage ship, that would make sense that they hope to recover gold. We know the Black Rock had dynamite on it and was probably using the slaves to do some digging for gold. Of course, the people behind the mission of the Christiane I might have no ideathe Black Rock is on the middle of Lost island. They might be going to the Sunda Trench looking for the Black Rock, but might end up find a "fake" Oceanic 815.

Now, ladies, are we only limited to the guys on Find815? There's not enough to go around! LOL

Fenris said...
