Chapter 4- Some e-mails and some reading.

Tonight there are two e-mails and a web site.

Sent Mail

Subject: Strange Lights Recipient: Tracey- Sam explains to Tracey that he saw a "green cloud of light" while on the deck of the Christaine 1. He explains that they blended and moved, and faded after 20 seconds.

Inbox

Subject: Lights Sender: Tracey- She kids Sam about aliens from the planet Zubelleedubellee. She also explains that Sam most likely saw an aurora, but that the one he saw seems like it faded away too quickly. She also mentions that it could be related to the "...mishap on the bridge the other day." (referencing the time all of the instruments went haywire).

It seems Sam decides to to a little aurora research himself and finds tonight's website.

Website:

On Sam's laptop we get a web site for the Aurora Australis (It looks like Kyle was a little clairvoyant with that link he posted in comments today!).

  • These are natural phenomena in the southern hemisphere caused by magnetic forces in the atmosphere and plasma particles colliding with the Earth's magnetic field.
  • www.southernauroralights.com is a live site.
  • There are two images not loaded and one that is.

Some things of note. The planet name Tracey mentions seems long and elaborate. Is there something hidden in Zubelleedubellee? Also when Sam writes to Tracey he sometimes writes to Tracey and other times to Tracey R. Is this significant?

See now I'm tired of things like Zubelleedubellee meaning something, so I'm going to leave it to y'all and get ready for the 2nd half of the Chuck sandwich.

If it were next week, I'd be watching LOST. :D

Scoutpost said...

Can you believe we're getting so close?! I'm so hyped up for more LOST, but I could just cry that we're only getting half a season. Oh well.

I know the missing images are probably just meant to show poor internet access, but I just can't stand not to know what is supposed to be in these images!

Erin said...

I'm still dead curious as to the relationship between Sam and Tracey.

Scoutpost said...

I agree pharma. There's definitely some flirting...but is it just between good friends or is it more?....hmmm

Erin said...

I can't work out if it's sister, ex-girlfriend, friend, colleague, whatever, especially given that Tracey also knows his mum. I likewise suspect that that's something we'll not be told :D

Ninja gave out Find 815 T-shirts at the Matthew Fox interview in Sydney this morning. I wish I got one!

Tess315 said...

Wow I'm so far behind that when I made a comment it ended up being the last one on the last post.
So for anyone interested here's what I said.
And Capcom I see you have more than enough constilation info so you can ignore the link if you want.

Hey Guys
Been gone all day with family stuff. Been alot of good conversations and links here. I'll have to go back and take more time with them.
Looks like you all were right about the Aurora Australis. Good job. Looks like my star chart theory was wrong. Ah well.

capcom
If you're interested here's a site with a list of constilations for both hemispheres and all four seasons.
here

Well back to reading the rest of the comments.

Tess315 said...

Well it looks like the link didn't work anyway.

Tess315 said...

Oh I see you can't copy and paste a link can you. Duh

G'night ya'll-excellent work today!

I'm sure you've noticed by now but the southernaurorlights.com website might be live, but it's just jpeg on the find815 site, just likie the baliholidayfun.com site was.

Just to show that you can make something out of anything. I reference zubelleedubellee.

If you put it through the ceasar cipher q. It transplates to:

JELOVVOONELOVVOO

Which in turn anagrams to:

Love-love, V.V. Joon

Obviously, now we know why this game has been so hard to follow. Joon is behind it all.

lost2010 said...

For the record, I'm kind of hoping zubelleedubellee doesn't really mean anything.

Unknown said...

I can 98% guarantee that "Zubelleedubellee" doesn't mean anything. It's jibberish, like that scene in Billy Madison where Adam Sandler speaks jibberish at the dinner table. "Zabbadoo!"

Hooray for being clairvoyant! :) It was luck, I swear. I'm not the secret insider!

Come on, Kyle...Confess now!

It's raining so hard right now in the LA area. Our Directv lost the satillite feed!...this better not happen next Thursday!

If anyone is interested, Tom has put up pics of this mornings fun with Matthew Fox on his blog. They all look cute in their new t-shirts. hee hee.

http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lost-ninja/10154/check-out-my-pics-from-my-matthew-fox-interview

Erin said...

Aw that is cute. Fox looks kinda glazed about it all. A wonderful benefactor sent me a 'homemade' one to NZ from Texas, it's been assigned as very in-jokey jogging gear :)

Patch said...

Pharma, I thought the interview and the lamingtons were pretty embarrassing. I think Tom's interview should be better. I'm looking forward to seeing it when he gets it edited.

When does Lost start again over the pond?

I agree about the interview, it was all a bit uncomfortable, but the shirts are cute :)

Re: dates - soon, I think, as the promos have been running regularly and season three is being repeated three times a week in the lead up to the new season. Won't be more than a couple of weeks behind the USA, I suspect, as the networks here have been getting better about keeping up to date as they lose viewers to bittorrent and internet spoilers and the like.

Alisomniac said...

LOST 2010.... i dont think that's quite it.... I dont know if you are confusing Jin and Joop, but I don't know who or what Joon is. but the whole "zubelledubellee" might cypher into something else-- though its amazing it was so easy to translate into love-love

Alisomniac said...

OK, sorry for being so lame, but I am currently in middle of a Lost-A-thon (self imposed viewing of all eps seasons 1-3) and I am on episode 23 and now am post 23! yay!

lost2010 said...

alisomniac - You don't think maybe Joon is Joop's long lost cousin? I was really just playing with the caesar cipher tool. Don't pay any attention to me. The game lost me back on the openstego password thing and my heart hasn't really been in it since. I didn't even go to find815.com to read the e-mails.

By next Thursday, I can go back to lounging in the shallow end of the pool - wondering who Kate left at home to go meet Jack.

Patch said...

*lol* lost2010, I guess you've solved Lost. It was Joon all the time! :)
*giggle*

memphish said...

Tracey vs. Tracey R. could be the difference in a work vs. a personal email address. Probably it's just a sloppy omission. Any chance her last name might be Reyes? :D

Scoutpost said...

Over at Dark's site they have examples of how find815 is being promoted in Marvel comic books. Apparently some find815 stuff has cropped up in an issue of Captain America as well as Spiderman. Maybe Captain America and Spiderman are the moles in the Maxwell group.

Capcom said...

Hi All! Zubelleedubellee indeed. Doesn't she know that aliens come from Zeta Reticuli?! :o)

Thanks for the link Sayidsgirl, the one you put on the lag thread worked great! And while I'm on the subject, thanks to everyone for helping me figure out my pet peeve about the Big Dipper in the S.H. I don't know why it bugged me so much, but once I get on a roll about nitpicking details, I'm done for until I find out the facts.

Scoutpost said...

I was looking up Kristian Birkeland who was in the picture on the auroraaustalis website on Sam's computer. Wikipedia says that he was a Norwegian who established a network of observatories under auroral regions....
Here's the link:

Thanks for the info Scoutpost! And God bless TPTB for making this show and the games so dang interesting!!!! I guess not everyone's a science-geek, but anyone who is a general info-geek should still appreciate all the crazy reference efforts that TPTB put into the entire Lost media experience overall.

you're welcome.
I was gone all day yesterday and didn't get home till evening it was taking me forvever to catch up on comments.
scoutpost
That's an interesting link thanks. I was wondering who was in that picture but was to tired to investigate.

maven said...

It's interesting in that article about Kristian Birkeland that he was born in Christiania (= Christian I?) LOL

maven said...

I noticed when you're on the Aurora website on Sam's computer, you can click on the "A" in Aurora and you get the flyOceanicAir site. Curious or not?

memphish said...

Maven's post made me wiki Christiane. I found Christiane Kubrick who was in A Clockwork Orange and Christiane Nusslein-Volhard who won a Nobel prize for research on the genetic control of embryonic development. There are also a lot of German athletes and actresses with the name Christiane too.

maven said...

Memphish: I'm sure the name Christian and all it's variants is a common enough name in the Scandinavian countries and all over the world. It's just a funny coincidence (or not?) that there's was a town called Christiania (now Oslo) and there's a ship called Christian...let alone that his first name was Kristian and we also have Christian Shephard. Lost connections are fascinating!

Capcom said...

You're right about the use of the variants of "Christian" in Scandinavia, Maven. When those Vikings got converted, they really latched onto it and used the name a lot. :-)

Carol Dunstan said...

thanks for that link scout, my brain hadn't kicked in enough yesterday to figure out who was in the photo, I was sure it would be interesting.

As an interesting aside but unlikely to be game related, I was reading yesterday that auroras can be used for supplying energy (it was on the wiki page). Switch the power off during an aurora and things can still work. I find that really interesting. There's also electricity companies in Tasmania and New Zealand called Aurora. You know I thought I was over my annoyance at never seeing one but it's all comng back to me now!

So, today we're getting a video from Sam. I wonder what he's going to say about his run in with Talbot? Does he think Tracey is right, the green fog (I always want to type fRog there) was an aurora?

If you have been wondering what Camp Millar looks like:

formerly used by the Northern Exploration Company.

Zubelleedubellee came from the email Tracey sent Sam about the green lights he'd seen. She said it was an evasion of little green aliens from that planet.

Ange said...

ular97 said...Zubelleedubellee...I kept seeing that word yesterday and was looking for other things. Where did it come from?

There's a really quick recap of all the e-mail from yesterday on the main page :D. It came from one of those from last night. That's also where all the aurora stuff came from as well as the new website.

theendtimesmeter: I tried anagrams for that too as well as Kristian Birkeland which came from the aurora web site. I didn't see much that jumped out, but some of them really got me giggling. There were a few that could be worth a mention but I dunno, A Bad Interlink Risk was one. *shrug*

I also tried all of the above in various binary, hex, ascii, etc translators, converted the letters to numbers, and tried a Cesar cipher. Are there any other ciphers that anyone can think of to try? Basically I got nothing, but I did try!

Patch said...

Happy Aussie Day Aimless! :)

I don't think there'll be anything interesting about Zubelleedubellee. I'm sure it was just a joke. :)

I've been trying to reconcile the green mist with the hatch imploding on the island all last evening, but it just makes so sense to me. If the island is in the Pacific and Sam is in the Indian Ocean, how can it be related unless there is something really twisted going on? I'm open to twisted logic, I just can't think of any. *lol*

maven said...

WOW, there really is an Australian Day! LOL Hope all our Aussie contingent has a happy one.

Tess315 said...

Yes
Happy Aussie Day to all our Aussie friends!!!

Alisomniac said...

Lost2010.... I know what you mean, i was starting to get paranoid that there was something unknown big that I missed- was half hoping to get corrected. OR, maybe Joon is a Jin-Joop hybrid? That's some Dharma style freaky expirement.... Sun's gonna be pissed.

lost2010 said...

Think she'll tear up her garden again?

maven said...

I, for one, sincerely hope that there is nothing hidden or anagrammed at all in "Zubelleedubellee"! LOL

Patch said...

Thanks guys! It's going to be very hot here today so I think I'll be having a low-key Aussie Day this year. :)

Ange said...

Maven mentioned this earlier, but on Sam's laptop on each website there is a clickable area at the top left. I don't just get taken to the Oceanic Site but a different site each time I click that area. Also, I can enter text into the address bar on Sam's laptop. Has this always been like this? I seem to remember trying to type something in on game day one before I knew what to do with Sam's computer, but I don't think it let me.

maven said...

Here's How to Celebrate Australia Day!

Ange said...

LOL, I think I just answered my own question. I bet they made it typable so that when the sites went live we could copy and paste. Sheesh I need to stop thinking.

maven said...

Ange: I just checked out Sam's computer. There does seem to be a clickable area on each site in the same place that takes you to one of the other sites. Must be a glitchy thing again. Also, I don't remember the address bar actually working before. Now, you can type in the url, but nothing happens after that. Strange happenings!

maven said...

Ange: Please don't stop thinking! LOL

Maven - You could always type in the address bar. I remember trying to get Google on it the first time we had access to it. Obviously didn't work, I didn't expect it to. But I did think it was strange they let us do that. Now though I'm thinking it's so we can cut and paste to a real browser.

Lost2010 - Maybe we should check Sams friends on facespace and check for Tracey.

ular97 said...

At least you thought to try putting a url in. I didn't even think about it. I put them into my own laptop. lol

Erin said...

Maven - re the clicking on the A in Aurora, I often get that with all the sites, I think it's just that the 'clickable' bit of each of the websites listed to the left is larger than it needs to be.

Fenris said...

It's kinda obvious I haven't read all the comments. *sigh* Apathy what can I say. This ARG is starting to be less then thrilling to me. I like the story but that is it.

Tess315 said...

Funny I tried typing into the address bar the first day and it didn't let me. hmmm

Fenris said...

Also I think Tracey should be renamed "Blatant Exposition". Lol.

Carol Dunstan said...

LOLz... yes there is an Australia Day... though Matthew Fox might be fearing for his life if he's still in Aus... I'm sure that fluro green lamington freaked him right out :D I'm celebrating by watching the cricket... seafood shop was all out of prawns so none of them going on the barbie here!

Hmm, I'm a little disappointed to get back on and find that there were no secret hidden things from yesterdays emails and websites... everyone's been playing with the contrast of screen caps haven't they?

ular97 said...

Contrast of screen caps?

Carol Dunstan said...

that's how the how the arrows and hashes were revelaed for the Braille stuff

maven said...

Well, the wrap-up video was pretty straight forward. At least he deciphered the code for Love You Madly! There were a lot of glitches in the video...patiently waiting for screen caps!

ular97 said...

He looked like he got a sunburn and took to many of those pills from the funny farm.

memphish said...

Well, Sam cracked the code. There are definitely flashes of things in the message. The last seemed to be maybe a page of calculations or Chinese. I didn't get a clear look, but I'm sure people will have it soon.

My best theory is still that Ben's people are masquerading in the real world as Maxwell leading Widmore to the freckage. Perhaps Penny even thinks Maxwell is her group to toy around with, but really Ben's group is using it.

maven said...

Sam needs to get some rest...he looks pretty haggard.

Memphish: Interesting thoughts that Ben's people are the Maxwell Group or they've infiltrated it and are orchestrating everything.

memphish said...

Well Maven to me the Love You Madly thing sounds like one of Ben's sadistic twists.

jess4ua said...

We've got the flashes, They will be up in the new post in a few minutes. :D

maven said...

He certainly does seem to know just how to get inside someone's head, doesn't he, Memphish? Even Sam says that whomever it is is toying with him.

ular97 said...

I don't know how to do screen caps. Or if my laptop does it. I have a thing to print screen but that is all I know about. So I guess I will go and think about how "not with it" Sam is and what he said as a whole.

Carol Dunstan said...

hmm, I think there were some meaty glitches in taht video!

maven said...

Ular97: I don't know how to do it either. Where would "print screen" be? I have "print page", but that goes to my printer doesn't it? I guess I can click "print to file", right?

ular97 said...

Mine is on the top row of keys. It has prt sc a line under it and below that it has sys rq. It is near the pause/break key and insert key. I suppose if I hit the prt sc, it would print the screen if I turned on my printer.

maven said...

When Sam said that "in a couple of days it will be our 8th anniversary", does that give us an time line?

ular97 said...

I wondered, but I don't know. We would need some date of their meeting or something wouldn't we?

maven said...

Ular97: I see a key on the top row: It has insert in white and below that in a blue box is prt sc. I guess that's it, but I don't know how to "activate" it. I think I'll leave this alone and let the experts handle it!

memphish said...

When Sam started didn't he say their anniversary was in a couple of months. Could they have been at sea 2 months?

Erin said...

click alt and print screen together, then paste into a graphics program :)

Ellen said...

Ular-if you have a laptop that has a key with "Fn" on it(usually on the bottom row, outside left), hold it down and press prt sc. This will copy it to the clipboard. Open a program like MS Word, or MS Works word processor and hold down ctrl and press "v" (no quotes). Save the file. That way you can save it and print it later, or email it, or whatever.

Maven- desktop or laptop?
laptop, see above.
desktop, most keyboards use shift-prt sc or ctrl-prt sc to do the same thing as above. Questions, email me @ msellen50@gmail.com...

maven said...

Thanks, Pharma! I tried that, but nothing happened. There are some screen caps over at Dark's...very intriguing. Can't wait to see what our gang here comes up with. I think this will keep us busy all weekend! LOL
